Award-winning Chinese film Close To The Sun

2012 new film directed by Chouchou, Close to The Sun (云上太阳) tells a story of a French artist’s experience in China. She arrived a remote village by accident, where the villagers helped her heal past anguish and awaked her love for life.

The story in the film was very weak, though the performance was very true. Many of the actors were the local minority residents. It was filmed in the unbelievably beautiful Danzhai (黔东南州丹寨县) in Guizhou Province, where everything just looked so pure, including the people. There were some custom of Miao Minority embedded in the story, though not in a naturl way, is interesting to watch. This film is great for people who are learing Chinese too- the language is simple and slow.
